דיכאון והתנהגות אובדנית

תקציר העבודה:

בעשרים שנים אחרונות מספר ההתאבדויות בקרב מתבגרים עלה בצורה דרסטית, בעוד שמספר התאבדויות באוכלוסיה כללית נשאר יציב יחסית. יותר מאלף מתבגרים מבצעים נסיונות אובדניים כל יום, 18 מהנסיונות הללו "מוצלחים". ניתן לומר כי כל שעה נעשים 57 נסיונות אובדניים, וכמעט כל שעה וחצי מתבגר\ת שולחים יד בנפשם
(Shamoo , 1993). מספרים דומים מדווחים במקורות מקצועים וקלינים רבים. עובדות אלו עוררו בי שאלות רבות בדבר הגורמים להתנהגות אובדנית בכלל ולעלייה בשכיחות התופעה בפרט. בעבודתי סקרתי תאוריות רבות המנסות להסביר את הופעת ההתנהגות האובדנית לסוגיה. במיוחד עניין אותי הקשר בין מחלת הדכאון להתנהגות אובדנית. נהוג להניח כי התנהגות אובדנית בכלל ומעשה ההתאבדות בפרט הינם תוצאה ישירה של דיכאון. כיוון שאדם מדוכא תופס את עצמו ואת עתידו באורח שלילי, מאבד כל תקווה ומאמין כי החיים חסרי משמעות ולכן אין טעם להישאר בחיים. בעבודתי הנוכחית רציתי לבדוק האם הקשר בין דכאון לאובדנות אכן כל כך חד משמעי כמו שנהוג לחשוב או שיש גם משתנים אחרים הגורמים להתנהגות אובדנית. כמו כן ראיתי לנכון להתייחס למשתנים חוסר האונים וחוסר התקווה כיוון ששניהם מהווים מרכיב משמעותי במחלת הדכאון ומאפיינים אנשים אובדניים.
כך, מטרת העבודה הינה לבדוק את טיב הקשר בין דכאון להתנהגות אובדנית ואת מידת החשיבות של חוסר אונים וחוסר תקוותיות בתופעה זו.
