תיאוריות בהתפתחות האוריינטציה המינית

תקציר העבודה:

במאמר זה נעשית סקירה של התיאוריות השונות המנסות לאתר את המקורות להתפתחות האורינטציה המינית ההומוסקסואלית, וכן של הביקורות אשר הועלו כנגדן. התפתחות האורינטציה המינית מוסברת ע"י התיאוריות הדינמיות, תיאורית ההתוויה החברתית, תיאורית הלמידה החברתית, תיאורית הגיל הקריטי, התיאוריות הקוגניטיביות והתיאוריה הביולוגית.
התיאוריה הביולוגית מייחסת את האוריינטציה המינית למערכת האנדוקרינית של העובר. מאידך, שאר התיאוריות המובאות מעלות הסברים פסיכולוגיים וחברתיים המתארים את האוריינטציה המינית כפונקציה של גורמים סביבתיים - נרכשים.
המאמר מנסה להכריע בשאלה האם אוריינטציה הומוסקסואלית הינה נרכשת או מולדת, תוך התבוננות אינטגרטיבית בתיאוריות השונות, והבאת דעות לשני הצדדים.
המסקנה אליה מגיע המאמר היא כי על מנת לפתח אוריינטציה מינית הומוסקסואלית, יש צורך בבסיס ביולוגי, ובכדי שהנטייה הביולוגית תבוא לידי ביטוי, נדרשת היחשפות לסביבה אשר תאפשר זאת. הסביבה עשויה להיות ההורים או הסביבה החברתית, בילדות או בגיל ההתבגרות.
