תקציר העבודה:

מאמר זה יעסוק באבולוציה של ההתנהגות המינית והקשר הזוגי באדם.
רעיון הסלקטיביות, הברירה, אינו חדש בהיסטוריה האנושית. צ'רלס דארווין היה הראשון לבדוק רעיון זה לעומק, ואנו חייבים לו רבות על אבחנותיו המדהימותודיונו התיאורטי. רעיון הברירה המינית מורכב למדי, במיוחד באדם, וקרוב למושג הכלל יותר של ברירה טבעית. החל משנת 1871 נלחמו הביולוגים על מנת להבין את הברירה הטבעית. רעיונותיו של דארווין לגבי על התפקיד ששיחקה הברירה המינית באבולוציה האנושית מקסימים. כיום אנו יכולים לנסות ולהבין את משמעות ההתאמה של שונות המין האנושי, אך תפקידם של מאפיינים רבים אצל נשים וגברים נראה עדיים מעורפל.
ההיסטוריה של האבולוציה של המין האנושי חסרת משמעות כמעט ללא המימד ההתנהגותי, והיה צורך בכ100- שנים על מנת שנוכל לראות זאת כפי שדארווין ראה זאת.
הפרק הראשון במאמר יעסוק באבולוציה של דפוסי ההזדווגות באדם ויציג את מנגנון הברירה המינית והתנאים לקיומו, ואת המחקר ההתנהגותי לגבי דפוסי ההזדווגות באדם.
הפרק השני יעסוק בברירה המינית ובאבולוציה של האדם ובקביעת הדומיננטיות הזכרית, ובדרכים בהן התפתחה קביעה זו, בסוגי הקבוצות האנושיות.
הפרק השלישי יעסוק בתיאוריית האבולוציה של השליטה באמצעות קליפת המוח (הקורטקס), תיאוריה שצמחה בנסיון למצוא בסיס ביולוגי לאיסור גילוי העריות העולמי.
הפרק הרביעי והאחרון יעסוק במעבר ממערכות רביה למערכות משפחתיות בעלות קווי קירבה מסוימים.
