מחקר זה בא לבחון הבדלים בויסות עצמי של התנהגות אצל תינוקות לאמהות חרדות לעומת תינוקות לאמהות שאינן חרדות, כלפי סוגי גירויים שונים ודפוסי תגובה שונים. מדגם של 53 תינוקות שנולדו פגים עברו בגיל ארבעה חודשים הליך בו נחשפו לגירויים שונים במסגרת בדיקת ההתפתחות על פי סולמות ההתפתחות של Bayley. ויסות ההתנהגות והתגובתיות צולמו ונותחו. נבחנו רמת ההתפתחות הכללית, התגובתיות לסוגי גירויים שונים - חברתיים לעומת לא חברתיים, ויזואליים לעומת אודיטוריים ונבחנה ההעדפה לדפוס התגובתיות 'התכווננות' (orienting) לעומת 'אקטיביות'. החלוקה לקבוצות התבצעה על פי ציוני האם במבחן החרדה STAI של ספילברגר. התוצאות שעלו מסולמות הביילי נבחנו באינטראקציה עם משתנה חרדת האם. השערות המחקר, שלא נמצאו מובהקות, נבחנות בהסתכלות חדשה ומדוייקת יותר המצריכה מחקרי המשך.
